Nuke Blast Radius tool

Nuke Blast Radius tool

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a nuclear bomb goes off in your city? With Google's Maps framework and a bit of Javascript, you can see the outcome. And it doesn't look good.

interesting....

Maybe one of you internets / puter savvy guys can imbed this in the thread... I tried it and can't seem to get it.

only good news for us jj is that if there was a nuke attack on Houston, it would undoubtedly be targeted at the ship channel or Pasadena.

no way the prime target would not be the oil refineries and terminals.

Anybody know if there's some way to code that little tool into a .kmz file to use in GE?

Doubt it, nukes are all about destroying infrastructure and preventing production.

nuking detroit would add to the gdp, especially if you took out government motors.

Doesn't really matter. I'm far enough away to not have any structural impact, but I'm close enough to be well cooked by the radiation in a very short period of time.

Unless they decided to hit a Nuclear Power plant 50 miles away
or a Lockheed Aircraft Refurb facility 8 miles away... I'm fairly safe.

Only problem with a Nuclear detonation in Houston is I would get the fallout in North Florida based on the typical aloft wind patterns. Which means I need to worry about Houston, Mobile, Pensacola, New Orleans, and other targets in that area causing fallout where I live.

I hope they stay North :)

By the way, the biggest problem with the applet is the fallout calculations.

They should have the ability to set the detonation elevation as that will contribute significantly to the amount of fallout and how far it will likely travel.

Either way, the majority of us, assuming you are concerned of such things, should be focused on surviving fallout.

Especially those downwind from ICBM fields in North Dakota and Wyoming. My survival factor increased many fold when the ICBM's were removed from Whiteman AFB (Mo). The groundbursts are the killer.
